Mode of Action: Amitraz is a formamidine pesticide and acaricide. It acts primarily as an octopamine receptor agonist in mites and ticks, causing hyperexcitation of the nervous system, paralysis, and death. It also inhibits monoamine oxidase and prostaglandin synthesis.

Spectrum: Effective against ticks, mites, lice, and other ectoparasites on livestock, pets, and crops. Widely used in veterinary medicine for cattle, sheep, pigs, dogs (particularly for demodectic mange).  

Additional Effects: Repellent action against ticks. Long residual activity on treated surfaces and animals.  

Key Features: One of the most widely used acaricides in veterinary practice. Active against ticks resistant to organophosphates and synthetic pyrethroids. Used as dips, sprays, pour-on formulations, and impregnated collars.
