Appearance: White to off-white powder

Assay: ≥ 95% (API standard)

Solubility: Practically insoluble in water; soluble in organic solvents

Common dosage forms: Pour-on solution, injectable formulations, oral suspension (veterinary)

Mode of Action: Macrocyclic lactone antiparasitic; binds to glutamate-gated chloride channels in invertebrate nerve and muscle cells, increasing chloride influx → hyperpolarization → paralysis and death of the parasite.  

Spectrum: Broad activity against gastrointestinal nematodes, ectoparasites (mites, lice), and larvae of flies; not effective against tapeworms or flukes.

Selectivity: Highly selective for parasites; does not cross the blood–brain barrier in mammals, making it safe.
